How I Won Property Investor of the Year 2025, Starting From Nothing

I’m so proud (and honestly still a little in shock) to share that my husband and I have been awarded “Property and Real Estate Investors of the Year 2025” by the Southern Enterprise Awards.

This recognition is incredibly humbling because, truthfully, we didn’t start with advantages. I didn’t come from money. I had no mentor or role model showing me the ropes. I dropped out of university to start a business with nothing but vision and an almost ridiculous work ethic.

My husband’s beginnings were even more modest. He grew up in rural North East Thailand, born into poverty, without even a house to call home. On paper, neither of us should be here today, running businesses, investing in property, and winning awards.

But we had something powerful in common:

✨ Ambition
✨ Determination
✨ A vision for a different future

That’s what’s carried us to this point.

Taking the First Steps Into Property

Our property journey started in 2020 when we bought our first investment property. We had no safety net, just a willingness to take a risk and learn fast. Six months later, we added two more properties to our portfolio. And this year, we took the leap into overseas investment — something I never could have imagined back when I was first starting out.

It hasn’t been smooth sailing. We’ve made plenty of mistakes, and we’ve faced challenges that tested our resolve. But we’ve always kept moving forward, even when it was hard. That resilience has been the real key to our progress — not handouts or luck, but sheer persistence and a refusal to give up.

Lessons Property Has Taught Me

This journey has reinforced something I now carry into everything I do: you don’t need to come from money or have connections to build something meaningful in property. What you do need is the right mindset, the right attitude, and a work ethic that won’t quit.

Property has taught me about cashflow and cost control, about how important tenant satisfaction is, and how every delay or detail matters. But more than anything, it’s taught me the value of vision and determination.

How This Experience Shaped TVAC

When we founded TVAC, I knew I wanted to bring that same determination into the world of virtual assistance. Our service for property professionals, The Property Assistants, was born from the lessons I’ve learned first-hand as an investor and business owner.

Because I’ve been in the solicitor’s chain. I’ve dealt with maintenance headaches. I’ve negotiated with vendors and comforted frustrated landlords. I know how much time gets swallowed up by admin, compliance, and communication. And I know that when those things pile up, growth stalls.

That’s why our property virtual assistants are trained to handle not just generic admin, but the specific realities of property: sales progression, listings, lettings admin, marketing, and contractor management. We’ve built this service to give property professionals the kind of support I wish I’d had in the early days.

Why This Award Matters

Winning Property and Real Estate Investors of the Year is about more than my husband and I. It’s proof that hard work and belief in a bigger vision can take you further than you ever imagined — even if you start with nothing.

It also reinforces why I’m so passionate about supporting property professionals through TVAC. This isn’t theory for me. It’s lived experience, and it’s the reason our clients trust us to help them grow.

Final Thoughts

If there’s one thing I hope people take away from this award, it’s that success in property — and in business — is possible no matter where you come from. Against all odds, if we can do it, so can you.

I’ll always have a lot of love for property, and I’ll always be passionate about showing others what’s possible when you combine the right mindset with determination and a whole lot of hard work.

And through TVAC, I’ll keep using my experience to give property professionals the support they need to spend less time drowning in admin and more time building the businesses and lives they dream of.
